Backup as a service (BaaS)
Ensuring that your data is safe is a fundamental aspect of any IT management plan. A good backup system will provide protection from hardware failure, natural and man made disasters and security issues. However, it can be a very difficult to achieve a robust and reliable backup plan. Backup as a Service (BaaS) is a very popular way of ensuring that data is protected in a cost-effecting way.
Why use a backup service?
On-site backup solutions usually require a substantial investment in storage hardware, software and staffing. Data must be kept secure, replicated over multiple sites and regularly tested to verify that it can be recovered when needed.
Backup as a Service systems simplify these issues by handling these issues for you. By ensuring that your data is stored securely and available at all times, you are freed to just decide what data you want to protect. And, as the service is pay-as-you-go, you are only charged for what you need meaning no heavy investment in equipment or long projects.
Which BaaS services do we offer?
IXCG DataSafe focuses on simplicity and flexibility and is based on the industry leading Acronis AnyData engine. Agents are available for most major workstation, server and mobile operating systems as well as key applications (such as Exchange, SharePoint and SQL Server) and cloud services (such as Office 365). As well as the cloud, data can also be backed up to local storage (if available). Data can be recovered to existing machines, new machines (bare metal restore) or virtual machines. Storage is available from 12p/GB/month, making it cheaper than tape based backup solutions.
Specialising in large volumes of data on Windows servers and workstations, Azure Backup is simple to deploy and manage and provides excellent integration with Microsoft applications and operating systems at a low price.
Google Cloud Storage
Ideal for very large volumes of unstructured data, Google Cloud Storage offers multiple tiers of data storage, allowing data to be stored very cheaply. Best suited for large organisations, Cloud Storage is similar to Amazon’s S3 service and can import data from it automatically.
Whether you know what you need or are unsure, IXCG will work with you to ensure that you have the best solution for your organisation. As well as a managed, pay monthly backup service, we are also able to provide assistance with:
- Backup planning and implementation.
- Disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity planning (BCP)
- Legal and regulatory compliance.
