Determining which version of Windows you are running

Making sure you have the correct version of antivirus product for the version of Windows you are running can have a noticeable impact on the speed of your computer. In order to determine which version of windows are you running:

1. Click on the start button (in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen) and select Control Panel and select the System and Maintenance option.
2. Click on the system option.
3. A window similar to this will open:

The version of Windows can be seen in the Windows Edition section of the window and the edition of Windows can be seen under System Type. From the image above, you can see that this machine is running Windows Vista Business 32-but edition. In this case, the 32-bit version of antivirus product should be downloaded and installed.

If you are still unable to determine which version of Windows you are running, then installing the 32-bit version of your antivirus product will safely protect your computer.
