Lightning DataThe window below shows lightning strikes in and around the UK as detected by our Boltec Storm Tracker system basded in Brentwood, Essex. The plot is updated every minite to provide the most accurate data as possible. Lightning come in two main types, inter cloud (which doesnt reach the ground) and cloud to ground strikes and each type can be positvely or negatively charged. All types can cause disruption to sensitive electrical equipment and we use this system primarily to help protect our computer datacentre. However, we have also made this data available to the public as a free service. All ranges on this chart are show in kilometers. Click here for the Imperial version (miles) This service forms part of the StrikeStar EU community. Monitoring is provided by a Boltek Strom Tracker card running NexStorm from Astrogenic Systems. | |
